What do you report with this form?
Incidents such as unsafe and unusual situations in the air, for instance, near-collisions or the occurence of aircraft flying in airspace designated for other aircraft.
Why should you report?
Civil aviation should be as safe as possible. That is why the ILT investigates light aviation incidents within the European Union. By light aviation we mean non-commercial aircraft lighter than 5700 kilos. Under Regulation (EU)376/2014, the general aviation sector must report all incidents.
Who should report?
- Personnel who work on airfields, for flying clubs of maintenance companies for recreational flying, such as parakiting, gliding.
- Pilots who fly drones (operators).
- Pilots and citizens who practice recreational flying.
What happens with your report?
The inspectorate will use the information in your report to increase aviation safety. The supervising inspector is also involved in this process. As a rule he will not initiate an inspection but he or she can establish contact in order to ask what follow up action the company involved has undertaken.
