Notification

Use this form to notify the ILT of incidents and accidents that occurred during the transport of dangerous goods, including loading and unloading, where no immediate action by the ILT is required.

When to use this form

You do not need to notify the ILT of all incidents immediately by telephone. Some notifications can also be submitted online, as the ILT does not always need to take immediate action. For example, if the situation is not life-threatening. However, you must notify the ILT of incidents and accidents immediately online using this form.


Examples of incidents and accidents that you can notify the ILT of online:

  • Damage to containers or tank containers at terminals.
  • Within enclosed premises: leaks from valves, manhole covers, overflow pipes or packaging during pressure tests or when connecting and disconnecting hoses.

You may take the necessary actions to prevent danger and damage. Otherwise, take no further action until the ILT has assessed the incident or accident and has released the packaging, tanks, means of transport and other matters for further transport.

When to notify the ILT immediately by telephone

You must notify the ILT immediately by telephone of incidents and accidents requiring urgent ILT action dialling +31 88 489 0000. This number is available 24/7. Immediate action by the ILT is required if an assessment cannot wait. This applies to incidents and accidents where:

  • Emergency services have been deployed.
  • Dangerous goods have been released from packaging, tanks or objects.
  • There is damage to people, animals or the natural environment.
  • Infrastructure is obstructed.
  • The means of transport or shore-based equipment no longer complies with legal regulations.

In all these cases, you must notify the ILT immediately by telephone. You cannot wait until the next working day.

You may take the necessary actions to prevent danger and damage. Otherwise, take no further action until the ILT has assessed the incident or accident and has released the packaging, tanks, means of transport and other matters for further transport.

Notifier

This form is for organisations involved in the transport chain of dangerous goods. For sea shipping, this form applies only to the transport of dangerous goods in packaged form (IMDG).

Required attachments

For this notification, you must upload the following attachments:

  • Transport documents.
  • Safety data sheet (SDS).
  • Photographs of the incident.

If you do not yet have any of the above-mentioned documents, you can still notify the ILT of the incident or accident and submit the documents later.

After submitting your notification

After submitting a notification online you will receive an automatic email confirmation, including a pdf with your completed details and a reference number.

The ILT will begin processing your online notification the next working day. The ILT will contact you about the follow-up actions required.
